The infamous Wave House is nestled on the Torquay Sands golf estate, the location is connected to the wetlands and coastal environment, and boasts post card, north east views across four fairways and lake.
Built by master builder Stuart Voss and architecturally designed by Frank Bienefelt, the design worked to create an expansive feeling within the property, and cleverly framed views of the landscape to conjure a sense of isolation and environmental connection.
What YOU'LL LOVE:
- The subdue and monumental effect of materials including hardwood timber interiors, render blade walls and square set 5m high curved ceiling spans.
- Hydronic heating plus split system heating/cooling
- Upstairs living, master bedroom, ensuite and second bedroom plus powder
- Abundance of joinery and storage, walk in pantry with sink
- Tucked away in a quite crescent in an established neighbourhood
- Four generous sized decks and outdoor entertaining areas, plus 8 seater spa
- Opportunity for 4th bedroom / oversized second living with kitchnette
- Timber framed cedar windows and sliding doors
This incredible home was nominated for a Master Builders Award
What the architect says - for me this house represents an antithesis of the square boxy dark design standards that everyone else was producing at the time. Undulating fairways, bunkers and sand dunes give a softness to the landscape that I wanted to represent in the architecture.
