About

A drive down the Great Ocean Road takes you home to the charming town of Lorne on Louttit Bay. Lorne has historically been loved as a holiday destination where the bush greets the sea. Historical fun fact, the town was named after the Marquis of Lorne who married the daughter of Queen Victoria in 1870.

Lorne ‘Main Beach’ is a popular swimming and surfing spot and home to the Lorne SLSC. The vast grassy foreshore is where you will find the Lorne Sea Baths Precinct providing health, fitness and recreational activities, an adventurous maritime playground, BBQs and skate park. The Erskine River flows east through the township into Loutitt Bay. Stroll Mountjoy Parade to discover restaurants, cafes, book stores, boutiques, art galleries and the historical Lorne Cinema.

Lorne P-12 College is located in Lorne and conducts pre-primary, primary and secondary classes. The town is well resourced with local services and businesses and volunteer organisations. Stribling Reserve is home to the Lorne Dolphins Football and Netball Club, Cricket Club and Lorne Leisure Centre - sports stadium.

Artists, photographers, writers and poets have been documenting the coastal retreat for centuries. The spirited Lorne arts community continues to thrive. The epicentre is Qdos Art Gallery. The celebrated Lorne Sculpture Biennale is held every 2 years.
