As owner of and licensed Estate Agent for LINKS Property, Lynne Hayden lives and breathes contemporary Surf Coast property. Residing locally with her young family, Lynne is a champion of the region and all it has to offer. Lynne’s friends and team members shared a known fact. Lynne has a mad passion not just for Real Estate, but also for great food and good coffee. “It’s true! We are so lucky to be living on a coast that is loaded with cafes, world-class restaurants, producers, markets, makers and roasters." says Lynne. "It’s hard to avoid such a choice of amazing places to visit and share a delicious meal with family and friends. We are very spoilt.” We asked Lynne to share a few of her favourite hot spots for enjoying the local fare.
Best place to eat in Torquay for families with young kids? This is a weather dependent question. On a good day we love sitting outdoors at Fishos Torquay for a healthy hit out. Also, The Sands so the kids can run around on the lawn.
Share your favourite café for grabbing a daily coffee on the run? At the moment it would be Kombi Kiosk (Surf Coast Plaza). I am intent on bringing back the 80’s and Cappuccinos are my new thing.
It’s date night! Where do you and Mr Hayden like to visit for a delicious dinner for two? It’s only taken me 10yrs but finally Stephen is loving Scorched and the concept of sharing plates! Hands down I love my nights being looked after by Vanessa and her team – you never want for anything.
It’s Friday night at home with the family. Share your favourite takeaway pick? Jeepers, hard to choose as I do love to cook up a storm with the family and friends. If we do decide to have a lazy night in we would dial Real Thai Cafe on Pearl Street, The Sands pizzas or we swing by and pick up yummy Bottle of Milk burgers.
As a home chef who loves to cook where do you find your produce? I start the weekend with a visit to the Torquay Farmers Market for fresh veggies, organic goods and a coffee from Mark in the Ocean Grind caravan. Weekly you can’t avoid a few quick stops at Peaches Torquay. The presentation alone of their top produce makes you hungry.
Friends are visiting from out of town and you want to impress them with life on the Surf Coast. How would you spend the day with them and where would you take them for lunch? Oh easy. With kids it’s straight down to Lorne for a trampoline session and lunch on the grass or foreshore. Aireys Pub for a Bannockburn chicken parma. Perhaps one of the nearby awesome wineries, Bistro At Banks and Mt Duneed Estate , or maybe just keep it simple with a visit to one of our many stunning beaches with a picnic on the sand. The perfect spot to enjoy delicious local offerings while also being outside in the fresh coastal air. Perfect !
