We certainly haven't had the pick of the weather this week. Rain, rain and heavier rain just about sums it up.
If the kids are driving you a little up the wall... here are some local hot spots to get them out of the house this weekend.
Why not start at the Torquay foreshore park (on the Esplanade, opposite Zeally Bay Road). This park has a great selection of activities for all ages... from wooden walkways, moving bridges, fireman poles and monkey bars (hidden underneath the wooden walkway!)...
Swings (2 sets in fact, and a wheelchair swing!), lower wooden walkways for the littlies, and more high wooden walkways to play chasey...
Stairs, multiple slides for all ages and a couple of sit-on metal diggers to use in the sand...
There's also a wooden pirate ship, with climbing walls, and a chain ladder. There is a public toilet available next to the playground, shade under a rotunda, and some trees surrounding the equipment.
When they are done playing, you can venture East down the coast (away from town) to Fisherman's beach for a cool drink, ice-cream, snack and a coffee or hot chocolate. With the prime beachside location, once the kids have refuelled, they will be off to the beach for a run around straight after! There are very clean public toilets located here.
Bomboras has outdoor chairs, tables and umbrellas provided - there is no indoor seating.
If they still have some energy you can walk them East (out of town) along the beach to the Torquay sundial...
Situated overlooking Whites beach where you'll see plenty of dogs enjoying some frolicking time off the lead on the beach.
By now you should see the kids starting to lose some steam, especially once you've walked back along the beach to the playground to head home!
More outdoor activities coming soon,
Until next time,
Your Neighbour!
